Kalagesi AniNoquisi Gatusi: "Ancient Mountain Meadow of the Stars" is a high altitude sustainable agricultural research site.
The K.A.G. Ranch and LLC rests at approximately 10,000 ft. elevation west of Pikes Peak in the Rocky Mountains, not too far from Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. Our purpose is to explore sustainable agricultural techniques viable at high altitudes for
viable agri-business techniques targeting populations living higher than 6,000 ft. elevation. These populations face challenges like a short and dry growing season, poor soils, and weather events. Our location has these conditions.
What was a dream over a decade ago became a reality with the first success stories published October of 2008 and subsequent papers. Eventually, we would like to carry the success stories to students, and to agri-businesses operating in such kinds of locations.
A tangent line of investigation applies lessons-learned to agri-techniques applicable to extreme conditions, such as extra-Terrestrial habitat horticulture. Hence, NASA through the WI Space Grant Consortium, became a collaborative supporter.
